THE PEARLS OF THE PURE SEASON
(Ngọc Khiết tea: Lũng Phìn tea – Tịnh Tâm Lotus)
“Now in the summer, the lotus blooms.” This season, every morning on the porch of Nhi Do Mai Tea House is fragrant with lotus scent, floating with summer colors. Each batch of lotus rice is still diligently and silently weaving incense day after day. Lotus rice, also known as the scent bag of the lotus flower, is the part separated from the stamens. The precious apricot blossoms are called the pearls of the pure season.
From the misty morning, the picker quietly rowed his oar on Tinh Tam Lake (in the past, it was still the place where the fragrant ancient lotus variety of Hue was grown specifically for the king’s use), plucking each lotus flower to bring it back to practice. The scent of Bang Thanh Lung Phin tea grows on the remote Dong Van rock. The lotus is still soaked in the morning dew when the fragrance bag (lotus rice) is at its most intense. Not too pale when young, not too faded like when blooming, the lotus at the same time has a hint of chastity and purity. A pristine beginning, a “fog whistle” that stirs and urges.
These incense bags are gently separated. Milky white lotus rice looks elegant. Each grain of rice is as beautiful as a hand bunched together, round and soft. It feels like each grain of rice is a living entity, sparkling, shaking, dancing, ringing happily in the thin hands of a young woman peeling each thin lotus petal, meticulously separating each fragrant pearl on the thread. Yellow.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that it seems like the entire pure and virgin lotus season is packed and collected in each of those beautiful scent bags. We understand and cherish those pure values, so we spare no effort to bring you a cup of lotus rice tea – a drink that drinks the essence of flowers, heaven and religion. The meticulousness and sophistication in each step have contributed to raising rice lotus tea to the level of art. Sipping a cup of lotus tea is sipping a cup of pure lotus scent, a cup of cherished, meticulously scented tea, a cup of rich Vietnamese flavor. A cup filled with clouds and gentle breezes, a cup that brings together all the natural times, favorable conditions, and harmony between people.
Even though I understand that all things are in the cycle of birth – existence – change – destruction, so are the lotus life and lotus scent, but my heart still longs for the summer that is about to pass. Therefore, cherishing the effort of cultivating each bead of Ngoc Khiet tea flavor in the midst of anxiety means wanting to retain the brilliance and fragrance of Hue’s fragrant season in the ever-flowing impermanence!
